Author Guidelines
1. Introduction and Scope
The University of Khartoum Engineering Journal (UoKEJ) publishes peer-reviewed research across all engineering disciplines.
- We prioritize:
- Original theoretical/experimental advancements
- Novel methodologies with broad applicability
- Interdisciplinary engineering solutions for regional/global challenges
- We do not accept:
- Routine technical reports without scientific novelty
- Local case studies lacking generalizable findings
- Incremental improvements of well-established methods
2. Manuscript Categories
- Regular Papers (4,000–6,000 words): Original research with complete methodology and analysis.
- Technical Notes (≤1,500 words): Brief reports on emerging techniques or preliminary findings.
- Review Articles (By invitation): Comprehensive critical evaluations of research fields.
- Perspectives (Invitation-only): Expert commentaries on future research directions.
3. Ethical Policies
- Authorship
- Follow CRediT taxonomy for contributor roles.
- Corresponding author must verify all co-author approvals.
- Originality
- CrossCheck plagiarism screening applied to all submissions.
- Concurrent submission to multiple journals is prohibited.
- AI and Writing Tools
- Permitted:
- Language polishing (grammar, syntax)
- Reference formatting
- Translation assistance
- Prohibited:
- Substantive content generation
- Data interpretation/analysis
- Literature synthesis without verification
- Declaration Requirement:
During manuscript preparation, the authors utilized [Tool Name] for [specific purpose]. All AI-generated content was rigorously verified, and authors assume full responsibility for the final work.

4. Manuscript Preparation
- Structure
- Title Page (separate file):
- Full title (≤15 words)
- Author affiliations with superscripts
- Corresponding author email
- Main Text:
- Structured abstract (250 words)
- 5–6 keywords
- Introduction (with clear gap analysis)
- Methods (reproducible detail)
- Results & Discussion (separate sections)
- Conclusions (with societal impact)
- Supplementary Materials:
- Large datasets
- Extended methodologies
- Multimedia files
- Title Page (separate file):
- Formatting Standards
- Layout:
- Two-column format
- Paper size: A4
- Margins: 20 mm top/bottom, 17 mm left/right
- Font: Times New Roman, 10pt
- Line spacing: Single
- Abstract in single-column format
- Equations: Use MathType or Equation Editor; number consecutively.
- Figures/Tables:
- Minimum 300 DPI
- Formats: EPS, PDF, or TIFF
- Embed fonts in vector graphics
